Please join us Friday, June 4th for an evening of music and comedy with They Might Be Giants, David Cross, Todd Barry and People Are Wrong to raise funds for 826NYC. Sarah Vowell will host the event, which is at Southpaw (www.spsounds.com) in Brooklyn and starts at 8. Everyone at the show is invited to walk down Fifth Avenue with us afterwards for a party at 826NYC to celebrate the opening of our storefront, The Brooklyn Superhero Supply Company. Tickets for the evening are $50 and can be purchased here (http://www.ticketweb.com/user/?region=nyc&query=detail&event=518188). For more information about 826NYC, please see here (www.826nyc.org). We hope to see everyone there.

We realize that at first glance, $50 may sound like a lot. Here are some reasons why we're hoping you'll pay that much for a ticket: 1) It's not every day you get to see a lineup like that in a small club like the Southpaw; 2) In NYC, many people pay much more than that for dinner at least once a week. While we're not used to paying more than $30 for a concert ticket, we hope you'll consider it not just the price of a ticket, but also a donation to the new tutoring/writing center; 2a) The ticket price, of course, is tax-deductible, for it's a donation to a 501(c)3; 3) Most importantly, 826NYC truly needs the funds. Renovating the 826NYC space has been very expensive, and the new nonprofit really needs every dime it can get.

We will have other, cheaper fund-raisers in the future, but we're really hoping to bring in some funds right now that will help pay the rent at 826NYC before it can become more self-sufficient. Thank you for your understanding and participation. We hope to see you there.
