Known internationally for their physical undertakings, the Shaolin Monks rarely leave their secluded Monastery in China. By controlling their body through their spirit, the Monks are able to live in perfect physical and spiritual harmony and perform incredible feats of strength. They strive to reach a harmony between body and spirit and blend martial arts skills with the beauty and grace of Eastern philosophy. By using Chinese weapons, ordinary objects like bricks and hammers and the strength of their own bodies and minds, the Monks are able to accomplish unbelievable physical achievements through their philosophy of living. The Shaolin Monks have been a part of the Chinese culture and tradition for over 1,500 years. The Monks developed their special martial arts movements to protect the Monastery against animals and pirates and to defend the empire against internal and external enemies. During the prime of the Shaolin Monastery, 1300 years ago, there were 1,500 Monks living there. Today, the new generations of Shaolin fighting Monks are reviving the lost art, in addition to developing the Shaolin Kung Fu. The Shaolin Monks have decided to share their unique skills with the United States to generate financial support to renovate, rebuild and preserve their ancient Monastery which is in dire need. "Masters of Shaolin" is presented by MGM Grand Hotel/Casino, "The City of Entertainment." Photos of the Shaolin Monks are available upon request. The MGM Grand features 5,034 guest rooms and suites, Studio 54 nightclub, the award-winning stage show "EFX" starring nine-time Tony Award winner Tommy Tune, signature restaurants, the new Lion Habitat, and the Grand Garden Arena, home to mega concerts and special events including the Barbra Streisand Millennium Concert, the 1999 Billboard Music Awards, ESPN's 2000 ESPY Awards and championship boxing.
