Grubs 'Raid' the Lawn for Second Place - - - - MARYSVILLE, Ohio, July 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Finally, the long-awaited results of The Scotts Company's first annual online "Most Hated Insect" survey are in! Tiny but troublesome ticks win by a landslide with 28% of the vote, showing an 11% margin over the runner up. Second place was taken by the little known but insidious "grubs" with a cool 17% of the vote, while Ants cornered third place on their backs with a close 16% of the vote. Meanwhile, Earwigs and Brown Dog Ticks tied for fourth place with 11% of the vote while fifth place was taken by Sod Webworms/Armyworms/Cutworms at 6% of the vote. Other bugs that made homeowners "forlawn" included Fleas and Mole Crickets Billbugs, Chiggers, Chinch Bugs and the European Crane Fly. The Scotts Company, the world's leading producer and marketer for do-it-yourself lawn and garden care, sponsored the first annual online "Most Hated Insect" survey as a way to draw attention to the variety of insects that can cause severe damage to lawns during the summer months. Homeowners, horticulturists and insect haters alike were among those who logged onto the Scotts site and cast their votes.
