Roland Safari Theme Highlights Exhibit Graphics Capabilities

Irvine, CA - December 15, 1999 - Lions and tigers and bears . . . oh my! At the United States Sign Council conference and trade show held Dec. 1-3, Roland DGA Corporation's booth featured a safari theme complete with lion, gazelle, a herd of zebras and even a fourteen-foot tall giraffe. Juli Korneychuk, Marketing Supervisor, said that all components of the Roland exhibit were printed, cut or etched on Roland equipment at Roland's facility in Irvine, CA.

Graphics included ten 12' tall by 3' wide panels forming the backdrop of a savannah scene from a single 2.25" x 6" transparency by photographer Paul Souders of Seattle, WA. Animal images from Souders' 35 mm photos and the savannah scene were scaled up to life size using Altamira Group's Genuine Fractals software and printed on the Roland Hi-Fi JET at 720 dpi on Roland's premium matte media.

The giraffe was printed and contour-cut on the new Roland CAMMJET at 540 dpi on Roland's matte adhesive-backed vinyl. The Roland booth also included a 3D Lenticular lightbox display printed on the Roland Hi-Fi JET at 720 dpi on Hi Gloss White Film, utilizing a lens and Lenticular F/X software from Lenticular Development in Lake Elsinore, CA. Stickers for give-aways and the floor graphics were printed and contour-cut on the Roland CAMMJET at 540 dpi. Butterflies were printed and contour-cut on the Roland ColorCAMM PRO at 600 dpi.

Even the table skirts were printed on Roland's new Polysilk Soft Cloth in an overall leopard print pattern using the Hi-Fi JET at 360 dpi. Metal plaques identifying the animals were engraved on the Roland PNC-2300A.

"The USSC booth was a real team effort for Roland's Marketing Department. We took a look at all of the things our Hi-Fi JET, CAMMJET and other products can do and looked for the best ways to show them off," said Korneychuk. "We regularly print trade show graphics on Roland premium matte paper, then use gloss laminate and mount on Sentra but this time we wanted to see how far we could carry the theme." Korneychuk said that convincing the Roland staff to wear shorts in frigid Atlantic City was the most difficult part of the project.

Also pleased with the Roland team's efforts was Dave Goward, Vice President of Sales and Marketing. "Response to the booth by both dealers and attendees was tremendous. Having the booth backdrop, floor graphics, the Lenticular display plus the give-away stickers all printed on Roland products really demonstrated our machines capabilities much better than words."

Photos and specs on each component of Roland's USSC exhibit project can be seen in the Roland Online Gallery at www.rolanddga.com/cafe/gallery http://www.rolanddga.com/cafe/gallery/ussc_99/.
