A brief introduction: My name is Sarah Min, and I am the new manager of all things efficient and business-like at McSweeney's. I've corresponded with many of you subscribers and book-orderers. For you and all, we have good news: for all orderers of things, via mail and web, we are making great improvements. If you have or have not noticed, we have moved our books to a new warehouse/mailing service right outside Boston, to be closer to that city's harbor, where our books are shipped from Iceland. Because of their location, and advanced tracking system, your books will get to you faster, and, if your order is placed via our website, you will also receive an email confirmation that your book order has been received and is on its way. We are upgrading our online ordering system so that orders for subscriptions, books, and all merchandise may be processed more quickly and accurately. The new system should be available soonif all goes well, within a week. However, we acknowledge that in the past, and in our transition, we may have unintentionally delayed your order. We apologize, but guarantee we will have everything up and running better than ever when McSweeney's Vol. 6 arrives in late March. In the meantime, please direct any questions or concerns and also suggestions to the customer service mailbox, custservice@mcsweeneys.net. We have also recently added more staff to handle customer service and resolve previous shipping problems. If you have already sent mail to custservice@mcsweeneys.net regarding missing issues or books, a representative will be addressing your problem soon. Many thanks for your patience and support. Sarah Min. - - - - FEBRUARY 14 We would like to extend congratulations to Susan Minot, whose piece "This We Came to Know
Afterward," about the abduction of children in Uganda, has been
chosen for the Best American Travel Writing, 2001 edition. We are happy
knowing that her inclusion in this upcoming collection ensures the
possibility that more people will read this story. Ms. Minot's story was and
is a very important story.
