McSweeney’s is looking for a Rails Developer!

McSweeney’s seeks a part-time (with possibility for full-time) Rails Developer interested in and excited about helping us upgrade and expand our digital footprint, which includes the McSweeney’s iOS App, the Internet Tendency, and our online store.

We’re looking for a creative, flexible, problem-solving, literary-minded web pioneer who can both increase our current functionality and lead us into uncharted areas of the digital publishing world. There will be ample opportunity to work with some of the most talented authors and artists in the country, and to find new ways to tell stories, share art, and develop a virtual community. Sadly, however, we do not have a juice bar on the premises, or someone who does your laundry, or a window-tinted, wi-fi enabled bus that drops you at our door. Welcome to indie publishing in San Francisco’s Mission district!

Applicant must be fluent in Ruby on Rails (Version 3), and have a background in web design. Familiarity with the open-source e-commerce project Spree is a plus.

If you think you may be the man or woman for us, please email Sam (sam[at] and Adam (adam[at] your resumé and a cover letter contextualizing your experience and explaining your interest in the position.
