On October 17 at Z Space in San Francisco, McSweeney’s will present an old-style variety show, the kind we did back in the day and haven’t done recently because sometimes we’re lazy.
THE WORLD PREMIERE reading of a new screenplay from BOOTS RILEY, legendary frontman of The COUP: This is a drop-dead funny script, and Boots and a group of actors will be bringing it (or 20 pages of it) to life in front of you. A world premiere!
ARTHUR BRADFORD: In the early days of McSweeney’s, back in Brooklyn, Arthur was a staple of all our shows. He would play guitar, read one of his O. Henry-winning short stories, and somewhere near the end the guitar would be broken and shards of it would be stuck in people’s hair. It was, and is, not to be missed.
ALSO: Many other guests and hosts, including Vendela Vida, Dave Eggers, and the presentation of the Barbary Coast Literary Award.
