A McSweeney’s Kickstarter Testimonial

* * *

“In the early 2000s, I was working in the disgusting basement office of a beautiful theater in Los Angeles and spending too much time on the Internet, where I stumbled onto McSweeney’s Internet Tendency. I had never published anything and even though I was only in my mid-twenties, I pretty much considered myself to be a terrible failure. McSweeney’s Internet Tendency had a section where people humorously reviewed new foods. One day I went across the street from the beautiful theater and bought a White Chocolate Kit Kat Bar and reviewed it. Well, that was the first byline I ever received and now, look at me! I am the beloved but irascible creator of Sports Night, The West Wing and The Newsroom, Mr. Aaron Sorkin. And to think it all began when I was just a lady named Wendy selling group tickets to The Lion King in a disgusting basement. Thank you, McSweeney’s, for all the joy you’ve brought me over the years, and for turning me into an important television man! Please give till it hurts. Literally. Maybe cut your foot off and see if there is any money in there. That’s just one idea. I have a lot of ideas, because I’m Aaron Sorkin.”
— Wendy Molyneux, Internet Tendency Contributor and Writer/Producer of Bob’s Burgers
