Voices from the Government Shutdown
In October, 2013 Republicans in the House of Representatives shut down the federal government in a last-ditch effort to stop millions of Americans from obtaining affordable health care. The shutdown put 800,000 federal employees out of work, imposed hardships on millions of Americans, and ground government programs to a halt. Sean Carman spoke to residents of the nation’s capital affected by the shutdown. These are their stories.
